Ops Engineer (BizCon) - Praha or Brno (m/f/diverse)

As a Ops Engineer, you will play a critical role in migrating our existing messaging infrastructure to the new version of IBM MQ and from IBM MQ to Kafka. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the migration process, ensuring a seamless transition and minimal disruption to our business operations. The ideal candidate will have an extensive experience with IBM MQ and Kafka, and a deep understanding of messaging systems.

Your tasks

You will be responsible for:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and design effective migration strategies from IBM MQ to Kafka.
• Propose an appropriate technical architecture and discuss the design within the team.
• Perform hands-on configuration, installation, and tuning of IBM MQ and Kafka environments.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline the migration process.
• Propose and support customer’s configuration adjustments during migration to the new version of IBM MQ and Kafka
• Create a comprising technical documentation.
• Monitor and analyze system performance, capacity, and availability, making recommendations for improvements as needed. Ability to develop dashboards [ELK + Prometheus stack] and alerting to proactively monitor and mitigate incidents [HPSM] and reduce resolution times.
• Support the operations team as part of on-call support (IBM MQ Gateway) function.

Your profile

We are seeking someone with these skills:
Technical:

• Great knowledge of MQs (IBM MQ + Kafka).
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash, CMD batch, etc.).
• Great knowledge of current IT architectures, DevOps best practices.
• Experience migrating infrastructure to the higher version of IBM MQ.
• Experience migrating infrastructure from IBM MQ to the Kafka.
• Experience maintaining IBM Sterling File Gateway is welcomed.
• Understand Code source control and possess sound knowledge in Git workflow.
• Experience using pre-built dashboards/add-ons in Kibana and ability to customize Kibana dashboards and search queries.

Personal:

• Strong Analytical Skills, Able to comprehend and dissect a problem.
• Programming experience from message-drive based applications are welcomed.
• 5+ years of using Kafka and IBM MQ messaging systems.
• Some experience with problem management or collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GIT and HPSM/Service Now.
• Must have strong deductive reasoning & diagnostic problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated, fast learner, willing to go outside of comfort zone and learn new things.
• Recommends technical solutions for application problems.
• Good team player with high ability to work in international teams.
• Fluency in English - both written and spoken.
• University degree preferably in: Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering.
