Job Start: 01 March 2025
Location: Könneritzstraße 47, 04229 Leipzig
Contract: part-time (15 / week), initially fixed-term for 2 years followed by the option of a subsequent employment contract with an infinite duration

The School Garden Responsible focuses on maintaining the school garden, coordinating Green Team activities, and promoting sustainability within the school community. Key tasks include organising events like the Farmers Market and World Bee Day, supporting environmental education in collaboration with teachers, mentoring projects, and fostering partnerships with local organisations. Ensuring the visibility of these initiatives through documentation and communication is also a central part of the role. The position reports to the Administration Manager.

Your tasks and responsibilities
  • Maintenance of the school garden (repairs, purchases, planning, and implementation of cultivation)
  • Coordination of all Green Team activities within the school
  • Documentation of all Green Team activities
  • Generating ideas and creating content to enhance the visibility of the Green Team (updates, social media, display boards in school, Observer magazine, WhatsApp community)
  • Planning and coordinating activities related to environmental protection topics in collaboration with Primary and Secondary teachers
  • Coordination and substantive support for the Primary Green Team in the Enrichment Program
  • Supporting Exploration Hours in Primary
  • Mentoring CAS projects
  • Participation in competitions, including preparing and submitting contributions
  • Networking with institutions and organizations in Leipzig and nationwide that are committed to environmental protection
  • Maintaining collaborations with these organizations
  • Organising World Bee Day
  • Organising the Fall Fair
  • Organising the Parents Green Team meetings every Tuesday
  • Planning and running the Farmers Market twice a year
  • Coordination of donations
  • Organising Spring and Autumn Clean-ups in the school garden
  • Continuously developing new ideas and seeking partners for collaboration
Your profile
  • Hands-on experience in gardening, landscaping, or sustainable agriculture.
  • A solid understanding of environmental sustainability and conservation principles.
  • Familiarity with biodiversity, urban gardening, and eco-friendly practices.
  • Experience working in educational settings or with diverse age groups.
  • Strong organisational and project management abilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and intercultural skills.
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills to develop innovative ideas and overcome challenges.
  • Leadership and mentoring capabilities to guide students and volunteers in various projects.
  • Social media and content creation skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and German
